I am a very indecisive person.
I really can’t help myself. Nothing keeps my attention. I’ve looked at over 15 different career paths, taking a couple steps in each direction just to end up changing my mind.
It’s been painful.
But something feels different with copywriting.
I first found out about copywriting while I was on vacation in Texas.
At the time, I was going to school, hating every moment of it, feeling lost and like I was learning nothing (which my dad told me would happen, but let’s not get into that), so I went on a trip with my sister and Grandma.
I had just woken up and was trying not to feel guilty about instantly checking my phone, (come on, it happens to the best of us) when I came across a Word Tonic ad.
I think it was the lovely Carolyn talking about traveling and how she got there. (I was super jelly).
So not knowing what copywriting was, I sent her a quick text asking about it.
This started my journey.
I stopped going to school and started researching copywriting. Given my history, I wasn’t even sure if I was going to go through with it, but I found myself TRULY caring about it.
I mean, I was watching YouTube videos, reading articles, and buying books and courses. It felt strange to care about something so much.
But I finally felt like I was on the right track and for a 19-year-old kid, it felt pretty good. It felt hopeful.
Now the cool thing about going to school and feeling lost was that a lot of people felt the same way too. I wasn’t alone. I’d seen so many memes about people feeling like college was a waste of time and money.
And now that I’ve found something that I feel is my calling, I feel bad for those people who are still in college struggling.
So to those people, please know that while I’ve found what I want to do, I still have no idea what the hell I’m doing.
I am still struggling, but now I’m struggling to do something I want to do.
And you can too. Sure, it doesn't have to be copywriting, but it can be. It can be anything. Anything you put your mind to, you can do. I believe in you!
But if you do happen to choose copywriting, it is an excellent choice. One I am glad I made.
